Nautilus Food, a specialist in canned seafood products such as crab, tuna and cod liver, has opted for pooled logistics by choosing the Mutual Logistics solution for its multi-temperature Shared Distribution Centre in Poupry (28), dedicated to food manufacturers.
Following a call for tenders, NAUTILUS FOOD, advised by Laurent Massin-Le Goff (Elyum Conseil), has renewed its confidence in the service provider after a 6-year partnership. The latter will be responsible for the distribution of all the manufacturer's grocery product categories across its various sales channels in France: supermarkets, on-trade outlets and specialist networks.
The first logistics site in the Mutual Logistics Group's network of primary warehouses (Poupry-28, Bollène-84, Rennes-35), with a surface area of 31,000m2, handles the logistics for almost 30 food and beverage companies, all suppliers to the supermarket and catering sectors, with services including inbound transport, decontainerisation, warehousing, retail preparation, co-packing, and shared or dedicated outbound transport.
This new contract reinforces the model for pooling flows that Mutual Logistics has been deploying for several years. By joining the Poupry site's food pooling system, Nautilus Food will be able to consolidate its goods flows with those of General Mills France (Old El Paso, Géant Vert, Nature Valley) and SOLINEST (Nissin, Tetley, Nature Addicts, Arizona, Van Houten, Ocean Spray, etc.) to their joint customers.
"In the current inflationary climate, mass deliveries to the end customers of the food industry are one of the ways in which Mutual Logistics is helping to maintain the competitiveness of the grocery sector in France, while at the same time improving the quality of service and reducing the carbon footprint of all those involved," explains Naïm Denis, Vice President Commerce at Mutual Logistics.
"I'm a great believer in this partnership, which will enable us to be more efficient and cost-effective, and improve our environmental impact. Sharing resources is a strategic development area for our company" Mathias DOSNE, CEO of Nautilus Food.
"Solinest is a distributor of national brands and private labels. We are a multi-category, omni-channel player. We had already started outsourcing logistics for our fresh produce and fruit & vegetable categories. In 2020, as we were running out of space in our warehouses, we decided to outsource our drinks, hot drinks, world products, savoury aperitifs and private label categories to Mutual Logistics. The aim was to be closer to our customer barycentre, but also to be able to build up a real pooling system with manufacturers who complement Solinest's categories. In a complex and uncertain environment, it's vital to be able to rely on the tools and resources of a logistics provider that can consolidate a maximum volume in order to control costs and, above all, downstream transport.
Offering all the services we needed, Mutual Logistics was the right choice and has enabled us to accelerate our development and support our growth. Christophe PETITDEMANGE, Secretary General of Solinest
