The Mutual Logistics Group, a logistics service provider, has won the call for tenders launched by Système U
to handle the frozen product logistics for 200 of its stores located in the Eastern Region of France. The chain of U supermarkets and hypermarkets is currently being delivered by two warehouses located in Strasbourg and, in Lyon. Their activities will be grouped together in the Mutual Logistics Multi-Distributor and Multi-Manufacturing Distribution Center in Bourg-en-Bresse (Ain).
With this in mind, the capabilities of the Bourg-en-Bresse site will be increased by nearly 70%. The current surface area of 12,600 m2 will thus be increased to more than 21,100 m2.
The Mutual Logistics site in Bourg-en-Bresse will then be the first Multi-Distributor and Multi-Industrial Distribution Center for frozen products in France, with more than 1,000 points of sale that will be supplied from there.
Mutual Logistics estimates that the volumes of its site will represent more than one third of the retail market in its catchment area, i.e. approximately 10% of the national market.
The Système U East business has chosen Mutual Logistics for its unique expertise in pooling logistics assets. In particular, it intends to derive structural benefits from the flow and stock synergies that Mutual Logistics will implement on behalf of the various
customers of its Distribution Center.
Given the attractiveness of the volumes processed in its Bourg-en-Bresse Multi-Distributor and Multi-Manufacturing Distribution Center, Mutual Logistics is already preparing the marketing of a third construction tranche. The signing of this contract with one of the leaders in mass market retail in France is a key stage in the development of the Mutual Logistics Group, which validates its strategy based on the pooling of logistics assets.
